Press Release
May 14th to 20th is Gambling Addiction Awareness Week.
Every year, May 14th to 20th is designated as "Gambling Addiction Awareness Week."
In conjunction with awareness week, our organization compiles and publishes the results of a survey conducted among gambling addicts and their families who came to us for counseling.
In recent years, gambling has expanded beyond online casinos to include public sports betting, making it increasingly difficult to quit. Our survey has shown that the average debt incurred by gamblers exceeds 10 million yen.
The average amount of money that parents who get involved in gambling addiction have had to pay has reached 8.91 million yen. Despite this, progress in combating gambling addiction is slow.
The gambling industry has become dangerous, destroying the lives and families of young people. We urge the media to help raise public awareness.
(The survey covers the period from January to December 2025.)
