We are delighted to announce that Noriko Tanaka, the representative of the Society Concerned about Gambling Addiction, has been named a finalist for the “Champion of Change Japan Award 2025” (organized by the Japanese Womenʼs Leadership Initiative (JWLI)), an award honoring female leaders who drive social change.

The Champion of Change Japan Award (CCJA) is a prestigious program that recognizes female leaders who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in addressing critical issues in Japanese society and creating positive change.

This recognition is a result of the high domestic and international praise for Representative Tanaka’s long-standing, dedicated efforts to address gambling addiction and her activities supporting individuals with the addiction and their families. We, the members of the organization, are deeply honored by this achievement.

Since the establishment of our organization in 2014, Noriko Tanaka has persistently worked to disseminate the message, that “Gambling addiction is an illness, and recovery is possible,” throughout society.
In addition to expanding support for affected individuals and their families, she has contributed to policy recommendations, legal reforms, and worked to eliminate social stigma.

We sincerely believe that this achievement is not solely due to the Representative’s individual strength, but is a collective result shared with all those who understand and support our activities, and with all the affected individuals and families who continue their journey toward recovery without giving up. We are deeply grateful to all of you.

Taking this recognition in the “Champion of Change Japan Award” as a great source of encouragement, the entire Society remains committed to resolving addiction issues and aiming to build a support system where “no one is left behind.”
