Successful Corporate Seminar on “Protecting Employees from Gambling Addiction”

The corporate seminar, “Protecting Employees from Gambling Addiction,” was successfully held on Friday, December 5, 2025. The event was attended by 80 individuals from socially conscious companies committed to adopting effective measures to protect their employees, and the near-capacity venue was filled with positive energy.
In this seminar, Mr. Ryo Eda, former CBC TV announcer, took the stage to share his personal experience with gambling addiction publicly for the first time. He emphasized how vital it is to have someone—such as a self-help group—who will listen to his story. He also stressed that gambling addiction is a legitimate illness, and that the lack of understanding from those around often causes sufferers to become increasingly isolated. Through his testimony, the seminar served as an important opportunity to reaffirm the importance of a proper understanding of gambling addiction and providing support to prevent isolation.
While there was a time when companies refrained from even disclosing that they had undertaken such training, we now see companies openly advocating for preventive education. We feel certain that society is steadily changing through these “pioneering initiatives.” The following individuals joined us to share their concrete efforts and insights from the field:
■Mr. Kiyota, General Affairs and Human Resources Department, JA Fukuoka City
■Lieutenant Colonel Maruta, Health and Medical Division, Bureau of Personnel and Education, Ministry of Defense
■Mr. Isoe and Mr. Utsunomiya, WILLOF WORK,Inc.
This was a valuable occasion that reaffirmed our confidence and hope that persistent efforts will transform society. We express our deepest gratitude to all the speakers and participants.
This seminar was held with the support of a grant from the Kirin Welfare Foundation.
