In recent years, online gambling has become more accessible to young people because of the spread of smartphones. During the session, we talked about the risks of online gambling and explained that gambling addiction is a brain disorder that can affect anyone. We also shared that recovery is possible and that there are places where people can ask for help.
We began by explaining how addiction develops in the brain and the key features of gambling disorder, followed by watching a testimonial video from the YouTube channel “Takariko Channel.” We then held a talk session with people in recovery and their families, and later conducted a true-or-false quiz in which the students actively participated. Many students eagerly raised their hands and enjoyed learning accurate information in an engaging way.
Students shared comments such as, “I’m glad I could hear this talk before graduating,” “Now I understand why it’s better not to start gambling at a young age,” and “It was reassuring to know that there are places where people can ask for help.”
The teacher also commented, “Today’s lecture was very informative. I was impressed by how seriously the students listened. We would love to invite you again next year.”

Gambling addiction is not a problem limited to certain people—it can happen to anyone. That is why it is important to learn accurate information while people are still young.
