Preventive Education Seminar Held for Parents!

On June 16, 2026, a preventive education seminar for parents was hosted by the PTA of Kanazawa Municipal Daitoku Junior High School, with 38 parents, guardians, and faculty members in attendance.
The theme of this seminar was “The Importance of Reaching Out for Help Instead of Dealing with Problems and Worries Alone,” aimed directly at parents.
During the lecture, we explained that gambling addiction is an illness, discussed the current landscape surrounding gambling, and highlighted the risk of children transitioning from gaming to gambling. In addition to sharing personal experiences—including what we learned from past mistakes and counterproductive approaches—a team member currently raising a junior high school student shared a realistic, parent-perspective look at the realities of in-game purchases.
During the Q&A session, participants raised insightful questions such as, “How do in-game purchases actually work?” and “What recovery methods are available if someone develops a gambling addiction?” This reflected a high level of interest and concern among the parents.
Following the seminar, the PTA President requested, “We would very much like you to speak to the students as well.” This led to a positive discussion about the possibility of delivering this program to the students as part of their regular classes. Moving forward, we aim to expand this initiative to all junior high schools in Kanazawa City.
Through this seminar, we not only raised awareness among parents but also created a valuable new opportunity to provide preventive education directly to children. We will continue to strengthen these connections and work to further expand the circle of preventive education.
